The project is a long term collaboration with the client, an independent architect-developer, building open plan split level homes in the UK. After having built the successful ‘Houseboat; by Mole Architects and Rebecca Granger on the adjacent plot, these two identical houses seek to extend the concept of the open plan, split-level suburban home. A theme based on the complex arrangements of roof forms found in the typical suburban typology - mono pitches, gables and hip roofs with a variety of barge and verge details.
